The Discount Diva is Wendy Y. Tucker is a
Las Vegas native, freelance writer, and author of 777 Cheap Eats in Las Vegas.
Wendy also owns Triple Seven Press, a company that helps writers self-publish
their books, and writes a "Cheap Eats" column for What's On magazine, the city's
premier dining and entertainment guide.
After resigning from a stressful job in the computer field, she decided to take a
leap of faith and a major financial risk to dive into the world of entrepreneurship.
By combining her love of dining out, an insider's knowledge of Las Vegas, and a
dire need to eat "cheap," she brainstormed her way into the idea for the book.
Research for 777 Cheap Eats in Las Vegas began in September 2000, when she literally
began walking the streets of her hometown to copy billboards, collect menus, and
interview restaurant employees.
A "Jill-of-All-Trades," she has a varied background that includes work in the computer,
accounting, and hospitality industries-and even a short stint on a cruise ship. She
holds a BS in accounting-maybe that's why she pinches her pennies and counts her
beans?-but don't hold that against her.
Wendy is a self-proclaimed Internet and knitting junkie and an active Toastmaster who
enjoys reading, dining out, and playing with her three adorable nieces. On Saturday
nights, she is frequently spotted dancing the night away with Beth Ellyn!
